The fourth episode of T.D. Jakes show ” Mind, Body, and Soul” included a panel of 7; Greg Ellison a professor, Jonathan Watkins a victim of gang violence, Corey Brooks a pastor, Arthur “Silky Slim” Reed a gangster turned activist, Kwanza Hall Atlantic City Councilmen and Tamika Mallory Director of National Action Network. There were multiple speakers in the audience to speak on behalf of this subject as well.
T.D. Jakes began the show by asking a very direct question. What can we do to stop the violence in our community? Here are a few of the solutions to reducing the amount of violence we see each day:
- “Anything you do is better than doing nothing.”
- We start reducing the rate of violence by changing the way we behave in our homes. Violence is prevalently in homes with mother’s that are hateful who then have a hateful language toward the child.
- Kids need both parents in the home
- Kids need hope and love from the parents
- We need to change our mentality. Immature parents some of the parents tell their kids “if someone hits you, you better hit them back or I’m going to get you.
- Encourage the kids in the home. Reach out to the kids
What are some of causes of the violence?
- Music- it really does affect violence.
- Lack of parenting.
- School create a prison mentality by having metal detectors.
- No self pride- kids need to see ourselves as a people who can accomplish anything.
- Not enough programs to help keep the kids busy and out of trouble.
- Everyone needs to get involved. It takes a village to raise a child.

Living your life without limits was the third episode of “Mind, Body and Soul.” T.D. Jakes interviewed LL Cool J. Before I watched the show I was curious why LL Cool J was selected to talk about living your life without limits. I knew he was a rapper who eventually got into acting, but it’s not uncommon for music artist to enter into the film world. Film directors are very smart they use the fan base of the music artist to promote the movie. Since it isn’t uncommon for a music artist to dive into acting, I was wondering what made him the appropriate person to tackle this topic.
After I did my research on his background I understand why he was chosen to discuss how to maximize your potential. He has been in music, film, television, author, fashion designer, and a philanthropist. He has now gone a step further and has entered the digital world. He created a social networking community for existing and new artist to create, promote, perform, and distribute music and entertainment. [click to continue…]

The second episode to “Mind, Body, and Soul” was definitely an interesting topic “Man Talk: Sex, Power and Money.” T.D. Jakes had four men as the guest on the show Lamman Rucker, Luke James, Keith Sweat, and Laz Alonso. The idea of this show was to create a relaxed atmosphere where men can talk openly and freely, just like they would at the barber shop. From the time the show began, T.D. Jakes seemed very uncomfortable.
His comfort level could have been affected by the way the show started, Las Alonso immediately asked T.D. Jakes a question at the beginning of the show. He asked T.D. Jakes where the “barber shop” was located, on the corner or the church. He wanted to know exactly how candid they could be and that is when T.D. Jakes seemed nervous. After answering him and saying on the corner implying answer freely, he then said ‘Lord, help me!”
The show was very much a dialogue between men; women were just giving the opportunity to ease drop on their conversation. I believe there was a totally of 9 questions asked to the four guest. We are going to give each question and our thoughts about each question. Let’s begin with the first question!
